COURSES
If you wish to try fencing, we operate a number of courses throughout the year. The first lesson is a free taster session which introduces you to fencing. Adults and children can learn a little history about fencing, dress in the clothing and try some moves themselves. For younger children (6 years and over), the club have a set of foam training swords with which they can learn in safety without wearing all of the normal safety equiment.

If you enjoy your first taste of fencing or are returning to the sport, you can then join one of our courses held throughout the year (check the calendar for more information about the start dates for each of the disciplines and courses).

The courses are ideal for most people - whether you are male or female, right or left handed, child (6 years and over) or adult. It is even possible to learn with certain disabilites. Please contact a coach if you have any special requirements.

These courses are split into three modules ten weeks in length and follow the BAF course guidelines and you will have an official award at the end of each course module passed followed by an BAF award at the end of the bronze, silver and gold course. The couses cover rules and safety, the equipment and the different fencing moves, and as you learn you will be able to practise these skills and techniques with other fencers.

Anybody wishing to attend a course are required to pay the following fees:

Adults (over 18) : £90 per course module
Children and Youths (under 18) : £70 per course module

(This covers membership of the club, use of the kit, training and insurance - no other weekly fees are due unless you have at least passed the Bronze 1 award and then wish to take part in practice bouts during the rest of the evening or have one-to-one coaching)
